The Green Arts Community is a networked community of cultural organisations in Scotland committed to reducing their environmental impact and contribute to a more sustainable Scotland
We have lots of resources and practical tools available to help you embed environmental sustainability into your working practices and learn from the work of others.
We believe the arts and culture have an essential role to play in achieving the transformational change to a sustainable future. Find out more about what we do and who we are.
We are always looking to find and support new points of connection between the arts and sustainability sectors. Find out about our current and past projects.
We work with artists from a range of disciplines to explore how their practices could respond to questions of sustainability and climate change through residencies, events and commissions.
We support cultural organisations to consider their roles in the transition to a more sustainable society through practical environmental reporting, carbon reduction and communicating with audiences.
We work with funders and policy makers to advocate for the role of the arts and culture in the transition to a more environmentally sustainable society and embed sustainable practices at a strategic level.
We appreciate immensely generous donations made to Creative Carbon Scotland by the following organisations:
Reliable Source
Reliable Source Music (RSM) is one of the UK’s largest independent production music libraries, dedicated to providing quality and diverse music to the media.
In 2021, RSM chose Creative Carbon Scotland as the recipient of its annual Christmas donation.
Hawkins\Brown
Hawkins\Brown is a multi-disciplinary architectural practice with studios in London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Los Angeles and Dublin. They create places with personality and purpose that are well-made, well-used and well-loved.
Hawkins\Brown has staged two events to raise funds on our behalf. In 2019, the Edinburgh studio held a Burns Night fundraiser, and in 2020 we were one of three recipients of funds raised when team members undertook a virtual peloton, cycling over 13,000 km promoting sustainable travel and climate change.
Assembly Festival
Assembly Festival is a prestigious producer, events promoter and venue operator based in Edinburgh and producing shows for the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival since 1981. During the 2019 Fringe, Assembly Festival produced a one-off event with a string of high-profile comedians including Eddie Izzard. Stand Up for Your Planet was held at Assembly Hall to a capacity audience. All proceeds from ticket sales were donated to Creative Carbon Scotland.
In the past we have received valuable sponsorship from Arts and Business Scotland, Good Energy and PR Print and Design, both companies whose values and aims align with our own.
