Green Tease: Acting for a Sustainable City

Green Tease: Acting for a Sustainable City

You are invited to join Creative Carbon Scotland for our next Edinburgh Green Tease, exploring the role of performing arts in creating a more sustainable city.

During this Green Tease, arts and sustainability practitioners and organisations will hear from theatre-maker Alice Mary Cooper and creative collaborators about their experiences of developing a new performance work ‘Blue Cow’, based on communities’ experiences of living on or in close proximity to contaminated land, and their interest in theatre as a force for making change.

Building on this example, participants will be invited to discuss the types of change their work is seeking to bring about and the opportunities for Edinburgh’s performing arts to contribute to a more sustainable city.

The event will include:

  • An introduction to the City of Edinburgh Council ‘Culture Project Fund’ which supported the development of Blue Cow.
  • A conversation between Alice Mary Cooper and Creative Carbon Scotland Director Ben Twist about the development of ‘Blue Cow’.
  • A group discussion exploring opportunities for performing arts and sustainability practitioners to work together to bring about the wider transformation to a more sustainable city.
  • Networking drinks and the opportunity to make new connections with those working in different areas and sectors in the city.

This event will appeal to those working in areas including: environmental protection, sustainability and climate change, land use, urban planning and development, community arts, performing arts.

It wouldn’t be Green Tease without tea and biscuits to welcome you on arrival, and networking drinks will be provided following discussion.
