Powering the Green Arts (Edinburgh)

Powering the Green Arts- Green Arts Initiative - Createive CArbon Scotland, Good Energy, Culture Business Fund Scotland

Book your free place at this workshop

Creative Carbon Scotland has been working with the Scottish cultural sector since 2011 to reduce the environmental impact of the arts and explore the ways our culture can help bring about the transformational change needed by our climate-changed society. This includes how we work, who we work with, and what we do as a sector.

For eight years we have been helping arts and cultural organisations reduce their energy demand by working on energy efficiency, buildings management and behaviour change, and we’re now excited to grow the engagement and opportunities for the community when it comes to their energy supply. Often one of the biggest ways we can make a difference is through choosing more sustainable supply chains, and using our purchasing power to create, highlight and encourage more sustainable choices in others.

Expertise from the Energy Sector

We have teamed up with renewable energy supplier Good Energy to run two interactive workshops (one in Glasgow, one in Edinburgh) to develop knowledge, provide helpful resources and discuss your energy challenges (and their potential solutions!).

This workshop will focus on why and how renewable energy is transforming our sector and our society. The workshop aims to empower individuals and organisations in the Scottish cultural sector to make informed decisions about their energy use and supply and how they can be part of a sustainable solution to climate change.

Workshop Content

We will tailor the workshop based on the areas of interest among our members and attendees, and what will be most useful and effective in helping them to be part of a greener cultural sector for Scotland. We’ll be covering:

  • Renewables: what are they, where are they in Scotland, and how ‘green’ is it? How can you be sure if the energy you use is renewable or not?
  • Energy use in the cultural sector: How important is saving carbon? What is a sensible energy consumption reduction target? How can you reduce your bills?
  • Electric vehicles and generating your own energy: Is it feasible? Could your organisation become a power source?
  • What else do I get, apart from a ‘green’ feeling? What the point?

If you haven’t already, please complete the survey (and be in with a chance of winning a £100 voucher!) and help shape the content of the workshop.
