Sequoia Duo presents Water Music: Source to Sea, a musical imagining of the journey taken by a raindrop as it travels along Scotland’s waterways. Field recordings, new commissions and existing works by Bach and contemporary classical and folk composers will combine, creating a sonic immersion in one of Scotland’s most iconic natural resources.

The bold photography from Beka Globe’s Land Sea and Sky collection will be projected as a backdrop and bring visual drama to the presentation.

Sequoia is a partnership between violinist Alice Rickards and cellist Sonia Cromarty. Since joining forces in 2010 they have firmly rooted their place in the Scottish arts scene, performing recitals and creative collaborative projects in festivals, concert halls, public spaces, schools and gardens around the country and holding a two-year post as Chamber Music Scotland’s ensemble in residence.

Water Music aims to catch and contribute to the momentum of Visit Scotland’s Year of Coasts and Waters and COP26 in Glasgow.

Presented in collaboration with Music in the University.

Presented as part of The Dear Green Bothy, a collaborative cultural programme from the University of Glasgow’s College of Arts showcasing creative and critical responses to climate emergency.
