OPEN CALL: Seeking artworks for ‘Artists for Ukraine Charity Auction’ at 16NSt Gallery

11th April 2022

Ukraine flag colours with a white heart in the centre and text reading 'Open call, seeing art works'.

Submit your artwork to auction! Ukraine fundraiser at 16 Nicholson St Gallery in Glasgow, 23rd April.

16 Nicholson Street Gallery on the Southbank of Glasgow’s River Clyde is calling for artists to donate works to our ‘Artists for Ukraine Charity Auction’ event hosted at the gallery on Saturday, 23rd April.

We will be raising funds for the “Czasoprzestrzeń” Cultural Center in Wrocław, Poland. They are supporting over 8,000 Ukrainian refugees with housing, sanitary products, medicine, clothing, etc. and in dire need of financial aid to help the hundreds of new refugees arriving daily. We hope you will share in this evening of drinks, art, and Glaswegian solidarity with Ukraine.

We are seeking a wide range of works to auction:

  • prints
  • paintings
  • furniture
  • posters
  • photography
  • zines
  • sculpture
  • jewellery etc.

Maybe this is a chance to clear some much-needed studio space, or to contribute a new work responding to the current war and refugee crisis.

The gallery is not taking commission on auction sales and we are asking for donated artworks but we understand that not every artist is able to do so, so are offering an artist commission percentage on a sliding scale of up to 50% of final sale amount. If you decide to take commission, please indicate the percentage in your submission.

Email Kelly at with the subject line ‘Artists for Ukraine Submission’ and include:

  • Short bio (1 paragraph or less) + links to website/ social media
  • Number of artworks & reserve/minimum price for each (if there is one)
  • Type/ medium of works
  • Size dimensions of works
  • Frame included: Yes/No (if applicable)
  • Commission percentage (if any)
  • Confirm artwork drop-off availability by 20th April (or arrange otherwise)

We ask that artists are responsible for delivering the work to the gallery (16 Nicholson St.) on 20th April, where we will take high-quality studio images of the works to include in a digital auction catalogue on our website. We also ask artists to ensure they are able to pick up any unsold artworks by Thursday 28th April.

Key dates:

  • April 19: Deadline to submit work
  • April 20th (10.00AM – 06.00PM): Artwork drop-off day to 16 Nicholson St.
