Finding funding to carry out work is one of the most common challenges that arts organisations tell us they face to achieving their green goals. This resource gathers together funding options, including grants and interest free loans, as well as links to regularly updated listings of funding options.

Funding from environmental and sustainability organisations

Funding bodies, Foundations and Trusts

  • Creative Scotland Open Project Funding offers grants of up to £100k for arts organisations.
  • The National Lottery Community Fund offers Grants for Community-led Activity to voluntary or community-led organisations and Grants for Improving Lives, which is open to most organisations.
  • Nesta offer a range of funds for arts and culture organisations, with an emphasis on innovation
  • Esmée Fairbairn Foundation offers grants for work in the sectors of arts and environment, prioritising work that contributes to wider systematic change.
  • The Scottish Power Foundation offers funding to all registered charities for the advancement of environmental protection as well as for the advancement of arts, heritage, and culture.
  • The Postcode Lottery offers funding for local charities and community organisations for work on combating climate change, flood prevention measures and implementing renewable energy strategies.
  • The Robertson Trust offers match funding for Scottish registered charities for work that promotes care and wellbeing or strengthening communities.
  • Trusthouse Charitable Foundation offers grants for small to medium-sized organisations for work addressing rural issues or urban deprivation.
  • ScotRail Foundation offers funding to support grassroots arts and culture projects.
  • The Culture Project Fund supports artist-led work in Edinburgh.
